 About the role
Peer workers use the experience of their recovery journey to support people with mental health issues, through peer support, positive role modelling, education, facilitating self-advocacy and providing information and opportunities to encourage participation in the public mental health system.
West Moreton Health Mental Health Service acknowledges the nature of peer work often involves the sharing of personal lived experience in a way that is unique and may have dual relationships with the consumers, carers, and services they work for may be common, therefore WMMHSS recognises the importance of the peer worker being offered reasonable adjustments as needed.
